Dante's Inferno: Beatrice's spiritual beginnings

The essence of starting a spiritual journey is expressed beautifully by the character Beatrice in Canto II of the Inferno:

Italian:
Amore mi mosse

English:
Love has moved me

When I ask Sufis how they have come to Sufism, they often answer that it was through God's love or Grace, and by no doing of their own. The Sufi, Maghrebi, says:

No one can journey towards God on his own feet;
To arrive at God's district, one must go with God's feet.

True indeed :) As Hafez says:

Although Union with the Beloved
Is never given as a reward for one's efforts,
Strive, O heart, as much as you are able.
